Due to the large volume of examination requests received by the DFCL it is necessary to implement a new evidence intake process. Beginning August 1st 2016 all evidence submitted to the DFCL lab must follow this new procedure. Any evidence submitted to the lab without a DFCL assigned case number and submission form will be returned.

The DFCL lab specializes in the chip-off process. Before submitting a device for chip-off be aware of how the courts in your area view the process. A best practice is to include chip-off verbiage in your warrant.

The DFCL accepts mobile devices for examination from US law enforcement agencies. We accept computers on a limited basis from Utah based agencies only. See below for cost.

DFCL does not accept devices from Private labs or non-law enforcement organizations at this time.

To submit a device for examination:

  1. Complete the below online form. Email must be a department email NOT personal.
  2. You will receive an email with your assigned UT-DFCL case number. DO NOT submit any evidence before receiving this case number.
  3. Once you have a UT-DFCL case number, you can mail your device(s), a copy of the warrant/consent, and your contact information(business card will suffice) to:

    DFCL Lab
    ATTN: UT-DFCL case number
    225 S. University Avenue
    University Plaza Building D
    St. George, UT 84770

  4. On completion your device and examination report will be returned to the provided address.
